GALIL. The Galil is a series of Israeli built rifles designed in the 1960's by Yisrael Galil and Yaacov. These were made by Israel Military Industries aka (IMI). The Galil design was a blend of the Finnish Valmet and Kalashnikov AK-47. Most Galils are chambered for either the 5.56×45mm NATO or 7.62×51mm NATO cartridges.
May 3, 2020 · I have a PTR-91 GIR as my shooter. It is a great piece of equipment. Accurate, extremely reliable, and one of the great Infantry Battle Rifle designs of the 20th Century as well as being the only battle rifle design still in NATO service in the 21st Century. You can still get 10 magazines for the cost of one FN-FAL mag. The version of the PTR 91 that has the bull barrel is the PTR 91 FR, and I have only seen a used one listed on Gunbroker. I am not a precision shooter so maybe someone else can help you with the accuracy, but I can tell you that PTRs with the Bull Barrel are tough to find (Edit: there are used on GB, but i meant Factory new condition). It all depends on what you want to do with it. M1A's are getting more expensive, but not any better. PTR is not easy to mount a scope well, safety is awkward and trigger is not the best.
